Jackie Wilson, the Detroit-born R&B singer known for his soulful vocal style, has passed away at the age of 49. His career began when he joined the R&B group Billy Ward and His Dominoes in 1953, and he experienced mainstream success beginning in 1957 with the hit single "Reet Petite." Throughout his nearly four-decade long career, Wilson had dozens of top ten hit singles, including "Lonely Teardrops" and "Higher and Higher." In1987 he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. His influence on modern music has been praised and remembered by various artists over the years. Wilson was a nationally-known R&B performer who will be remembered for his musical legacy.
