Jimi Hendrix (1942-1970) was an American musician, songwriter, and guitarist who was considered one of the most influential electric guitarists in the history of rock music. Hendrix is widely renowned for his pioneering and innovative use of distortion, feedback, and fuzz effects. He was also celebrated for performing with the electric guitar in wildly bold and unorthodox ways. His prolific career included three studio albums released in 1967 and 1968, two live albums, and posthumous albums released after his death. On September 18, 1970, Jimi Hendrix passed away at the age of 27. Although the cause of his death is officially listed as asphyxia due to inhalation of vomit because of a barbiturate-related intoxication, debate has circulated for years over what really happened. Hendrix's amazing work has garnered worldwide recognition and has inspired many musicians worldwide. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992 and was given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1995. His legacy continues to live on through his music.
