She was a British politician, activist and Member of Parliament (MP) in the Labour Party representing the constituency of Batley and Spen in Yorkshire. Jo was a passionate advocate for social justice, human rights and international development, and a strong believer in the power of humanity to solve problems. Jo was a vocal campaigner for UK involvement in the Syrian refugee crisis, emphasizing the importance of governments to work together to solve global challenges. Before being elected to Parliament, she worked for multiple NGOs, including Oxfam, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and the Children’s Future Foundation. Jo will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother to her two young children, compassionate friend, dedicated MP and a tireless campaigner for those in need. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who are inspired to champion the same causes that she was passionate about.
