Joe DiMaggio, one of the greatest baseball players of all time, died on 1999-03-08. He was 84 years old. DiMaggio was born on 1914-11-25 in Martinez, California, and made his major league debut with the New York Yankees in 1936. He played with the Yankees for his entire 13-year career, and was a 10-time All-Star. He was also the 1941 MVP and a three-time World Series champion. DiMaggio retired in 1951 as the all-time leader in hits (2,214) and RBIs (1,153). He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1955.
