John Dunsworth, the beloved Canadian actor best known for his iconic role as Jim Lahey on the hit television series Trailer Park Boys, passed away on October 16, 2017 at the age of 71. Born in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia in 1946, Dunsworth held a variety of jobs before turning his attention towards acting. He studied at the Vancouver Playhouse Acting School, went on to become a stage actor and eventually broke into the television business. Throughout his career, Dunsworth was credited in over 60 film, television, and theater projects. He is most remembered for his memorable role as Jim Lahey on Trailer Park Boys, which won him six Gemini Award nominations for Best Comic Performance. In addition to his television credits, Dunsworh also worked in a number of films, including One Conjured Summer, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, and Dad’s Army. He was also the recipient of five Canadian Comedy Awards throughout his life. Outside of acting, Dunsworth was an avid hockey fan with a strong interest in earning a university degree that he sadly never completed. Dunsworth is survived by his wife, daughters Sarah and Annie, and son Mitchell. He will be deeply missed and remembered for his talent, strong work ethic, and unique approach to life.
