John's career in acting began in the theater, where he was known to take on demanding and complex roles. His talent was quickly recognized and he was quickly cast in several movies, which catapulted his career and made him a well known and successful star. He was awarded an Academy Award in 1946 for his lead role in “Humoresque”. His impressive portfolio of films included “Four Daughters”, “East Of The River”, “Gentleman’s Agreement” and “Body And Soul”. John's career was cut short in 1952 when he passed away at 39 years old. He was well known for his passion and commitment to his craft, and will be greatly missed and remembered by friends and colleagues in the film industry.
