John Lennon, beloved musician, songwriter, and artist passed away on December 8, 1980 at the age of 40. He was born in Liverpool, England on October 9, 1940. John was one of the most influential British musicians of the 20th century, having first gained fame as the charismatic frontman of The Beatles alongside Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. He later went on to have a successful solo career, and wrote multiple beloved classics including “Imagine”, “Hey Jude”, and “Strawberry Fields Forever”. John was also an accomplished visual artist and a vocal activist for the promotion of peace. He was a passionate advocate for social movements such as the anti-war campaign and Trident nuclear disarmament. John is survived by his son Sean Ono Lennon and his wife Yoko Ono. He will be fondly remembered and missed by his family, friends, and fans.
