George Harrison, legendary songwriter, musician, and founder of the iconic band, The Beatles, died at the age of 58 on November 29th, 2001. Born on February 25th, 1943, in Liverpool, England, George was exposed to music at an early age. He was most notably known as the lead guitarist and songwriter for the band The Beatles, who achieved worldwide success during the early to mid 1960s. His songwriting contributions to The Beatles include such hits as “Something,” “While My Guitar Gently Weeps,” and “Here Comes the Sun.” George was also a successful solo artist, with hits like “My Sweet Lord” and “Got My Mind Set On You.” He was also a driving force behind the Eastern spiritualism influence on the Beatles. He is survived by his second wife, Olivia, and their son, Dhani, as well as his first wife, Pattie Boyd, and his two sons, Jason and Zak. George Harrison was adored by fans around the world; his death is a great loss. His legacy will live on for years to come through the successes and influence of The Beatles and his own solo career.
