George Michael, beloved musician, producer, singer, songwriter, and philanthropist, passed away on 2016-12-25. He was 53 years old. George was born Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou on June 25, 1963 in East Finchley, North London, to Greek Cypriot parents, Jack and Lesley Panayiotou. George first found fame as a member of the British band Wham! At just 24, he released his first solo album, Faith. The album went on to be a massive success and win him various awards, including Album of the Year at the 1989 Grammys. In the following years, George went on to make countless hit songs, with several making the list of top 10 greatest singles of all time. He also had a successful career as a producer and songwriter. Throughout his career, George was very generous with his time and money, donating to charities, local causes, and singing free impromptu concerts. His grieving family in North London, legions of fans worldwide, and millions of other listeners around the world will remember George as an inspiring and talented musical artist.
