Kenny Everett, British comedian, actor and radio disc jockey, passed away on April 4, 1995, at the age of 50. Born Maurice Cole in Seaforth, Lancashire, England in 1944, Everett was famed for his outrageous and unconventional brand of humour. He got his start in show business as a BBC radio disc jockey, eventually becoming one of the highest-rated talents in British radio with frequent appearances on BBC Radio 1, Capital Radio, and BBC Television. Everett was especially known for his characters on several BBC television shows, including The Kenny Everett Show and Kenny Everett's New Bits of the Beatles. He was acclaimed for his pioneering role in bringing alternative comedy and spoofing to the small screen. He received many awards throughout his career, including an OBE from Queen Elizabeth in 1989 for his services to broadcasting. Everett was married twice and fathered a son and a daughter. He had struggled with bipolar disorder for many years and passed away from a pulmonary infection at his home in London. He remains a cherished cultural icon to this day.
