Lenny Bruce (Leonard Alfred Schneider), 1940-1966, died August 3, 1966 at the age of 40. Lenny was a controversial stand-up comedian and social critic whose material included obscenity, satire, and political commentary. He gained fame for his style of pushing the boundaries of what was considered socially acceptable in the 1950s. His comedic style is noted for its clever exploration of social issues and was ahead of its time.
