Linda Lovelace (born Linda Susan Boreman, on January 10, 1949) died on April 22, 2002 in Denver, Colorado at the age of 53. Linda rose to fame in 1972 when her iconic role as the star of the groundbreaking adult film "Deep Throat" was released. It became the first pornographic movie to gain mainstream attention, at one point bringing in over $50 million. Her performance earned her the title of "The Poster Girl of Porn." Though the film made Lovelace a household name, she had a complicated and often tragic relationship with the adult film industry. She underwent radical changes in her personal life, including two failed marriages, countless struggles with drugs and alcoholism, and in her later years she became an anti-pornography advocate. Her story of leaving the industry was retold in the biopic Lovelace (2013), featuring Amanda Seyfried in the title role. Lovelace is survived by her son, two grandchildren, and the enduring legacy of her infamous role in Deep Throat.
