Ludwig II, King of Bavaria, died on June 13, 1886, at the age of 60. Ludwig II was born in Nymphenburg, Bavaria, on August 25, 1845, the son of King Maximilian II and Marie of Prussia. He ascended to the throne during the Franco-Prussian War in March 1864.
