Marion Davies, actress and philanthropist, passed away peacefully on September 22nd, 1961 at the age of 64. Davies was born on January 3rd, 1897, in Brooklyn, New York and became a prominent movie star in the 1920s and 1930s for her leading-lady roles in silent films and early talkies. She starred in 30 silent films during her illustrious career, with credits for both acting and writing. In addition to her remarkable film career, Davies was extremely generous with her time and money, always looking for ways to support those in need. She donated both resources and efforts to several different charity organizations. She was especially strong in supporting arts and educational programs in Los Angeles. Davies will be remembered for her kind heart, her generosity, and her exceptional acting talent in the film industry. She was greatly loved and will be dearly missed.
