On the 23rd of November 1979, renowned film actress Merle Oberon passed away at the age of 68. Originally born Estelle Merle O brien Thompson in British India in 1911, Merle crafted an award-winning career as an actor for over three decades. Oberon's illustrious career began in 1930 with her first screen appearance in the British drama film "The Lady Is Willing". She rose to international stardom as the star of the 1935 King Vidor classic motion picture, "The Dark Angel", for which she earned an Academy Award nomination. In addition to films, Oberon also conducted stage work in England and enjoyed notoriety on television. She appeared in numerous films throughout the 1940s and 1950s, including "If I Were King" (1938), "Wuthering Heights" (1939), "That Uncertain Feeling" (1941) and "Saratoga" (1937). Oberon also appeared in "The perks of Being a Wall Flowers" (1960) which won an Oscar for best foreign language film. Merle Oberon leaves behind an accomplished career that includes unforgettable performances and memorable characters. She will be remembered and revered for years to come.
