On July 13, 2025, the world lost a prominent leader and statesman at the age of 82. Muhammadu Buhari, former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, passed away at his home in Abuja. Born on December 17, 1942, in Daura, Katsina State, Nigeria, Buhari had a distinguished career in the military before entering the world of politics. He rose through the ranks and eventually became the head of state after a successful military coup in 1983. His tenure was marked by efforts to combat corruption and improve the economy. After a brief period of civilian rule, Buhari returned to politics and was elected as President in 2015. During his time in office, he focused on addressing security challenges, revitalizing the economy, and promoting foreign investment. He also implemented various policies aimed at reducing poverty and improving the lives of Nigerians. Buhari's leadership was not without controversy, as he faced criticism from some for his handling of ethnic and religious tensions in the country. However, he remained a strong and determined leader, devoted to fulfilling his duties to his country and its people. Throughout his life, Buhari was a respected figure both nationally and internationally. He played a crucial role in promoting peace and stability in West Africa, and his contributions to the African Union and the United Nations will be remembered. Buhari is survived by his wife Aisha and their children, as well as his extended family and friends. He will be greatly missed, but his legacy will continue to inspire and guide future generations. Muhammadu Buhari will be remembered as a dedicated leader, a patriot, and a symbol of hope and progress for Nigeria. May he rest in peace.
