On January 7th 2020, Neil Peart passed away at the age of 67. Born in Hamilton, Ontario on September 12th 1952, Neil Peart lived an accomplished life as a celebrated musician, author, and philanthropist. After studying with Toronto instructor Barrie Schelter, Neil joined the Canadian rock band Rush as drummer and main lyricist in 1974. His innovative and distinctive drumming style earned him the title of the greatest rock drummer of all time by Rolling Stone and many other magazines. In addition to generating lyrics for 19 studio albums with Rush, Neil Peart also wrote two autobiographies; 2006's Ghost Rider: Travels On The Healing Road, about his world travels after the tragedies of 1997 - the death of his daughter McCaig and wife Jacqueline Taylor - and 1999's The Masked Rider: Cycling in West Africa. Throughout his musical career, Neil Peart devoted time and money to multiple charitable organizations. Notable recipients included the Time Of Hope Foundation, Little Kids Rock, North Bay Regional Health Centre, The Prince's Trust, and Chez Doris. He is survived by daughter Olivia Louise and son Justin Zivon. He will be deeply missed.
