Pat Tillman, born November 6, 1976 in Fremont, California, died on April 22, 2004 in the mountains of eastern Afghanistan. Pat was an American soldier, who decided to leave his professional football career and enlist in the United States Army in May 2002. During his stint in the Army, Pat was remembered as a brave, hardworking soldier. He achieved the rank of corporal and fought in Iraq and Afghanistan. Pat Tillman was awarded the Purple Heart and the Silver Star for his bravery and valor. Pat was an avid outdoorsman, completing many long-distance hikes and treks for long periods of time. He was an inspiration to those around him, often pushing his fellow soldiers and friends to excel. Pat, beloved son to Mary and Patrick, is survived by his wife Marie and their twin daughters. He will be greatly missed by his family members and many, many friends from all different walks of life. We all remember Pat as an exemplary soldier and a loyal friend who made the ultimate sacrifice in service of his country. Pat will be remembered with love and held forever in our hearts.
