Randolph Churchill, son of British Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill, passed away June 6th, 1968 at the age of 57. He was born in 1911 and as a young man Randolph pursued a political career, running as a Conservative in the 1945 general election but failing to win a seat in the House of Commons. Randolph eventually worked for the British Admiralty as a Naval Intelligence Officer during the Second World War and had a long political career afterwards, including being a Tory Member of Parliament from 1959 to 1964. His published works include the book Winston S. Churchill, about his father, and The Rise and Fall of Sir Anthony Eden, about the Conservative politician who preceded Harold Macmillan as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Randolph Churchill's life and accomplishments will be long remembered and he will be deeply missed by those who had the privilege of knowing him.
