On June 9, 2014, actor and comedian Rik Mayall passed away at his home in London, England. He was 56 years old. Rik Mayall was best known for his work on British TV series including The Young Ones, The New Statesman, Blackadder, and Bottom, all of which showcased his unique character and talent for physical comedy. In addition to his work in television and film, he was also an established author, stream of radio plays, and stage performer. Born in Harlow, Essex, England in 1958, Mayall attended Manchester University, where he co-wrote the revue The Meanabubs. After his graduation, he began establishing a career in British comedy alongside colleague Ade Edmondson. As a duo, they appeared in several comedy programs and movies, including the British TV movie, The Dangerous Brothers Present: World of Danger. Rik Mayall was a beloved member of the British comedy industry, and his passing is keenly felt. He was an inspiration to many, and his starlight will be remembered for many years to come.
