On August 16, 1938, Robert Johnson passed away, at the age of 27. Born in Hazelhurst, Mississippi on May 8, 1911, Johnson was an American blues singer, songwriter and musician. He is known today as one of the most important Delta blues guitar players of all time, and is known for using intricate chord changes and catchy rhythms in his songs. His influence on popular music and the recognition of his skill as a musician can be seen in the music of countless other artists. His career began in the early 1930s, when he performed in the area around the Mississippi Delta. His career was cut short in 1938 due to his untimely death. Robert Johnson was an exceptional guitarist and songwriter whose influence can still be heard in the work of modern musicians. He will be remembered for his influence on the development of musical styles throughout the world.
