Roger Smith, lifelong resident of Los Angeles, passed away on June 4th 2017 at the age of 84. Roger had a decorated career in the U.S. Air Force and subsequently retired from Lockheed Martin in 2002. He is survived by his wife, Rosemary, and his two children, Amber and Michael. He was an accomplished person and his achievements included winning 2nd place in the 1950 National Speech Contest and earning his pilot’s license at the age of 17. He will be fondly remembered by all who knew him - for his strong work ethic, his warmth and his natural wit. He was always ready to lend a hand and a kind word to those in need and was an amazing friend and father. He was a devoted member of St. Augustine's parish and was a world traveler who sought out adventure in new places. He will especially be remembered for his kindness towards the homeless and his dedication to community service. He will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives he touched, but his passing brings us to remember the life he lived and the joy he brought to this world.
