Roy Marcus Cohn (1927-1986) passed away on August 2, 1986. Born in New York City, he was a prominent attorney and political figure. Cohn began his law career in 1948 as an attorney for the U.S. Justice Department in its prosecution of Communist Party members. This marked the beginning of his long involvement in politics and the law. In 1953, Cohn became special counsel to Senator Joseph McCarthy, and chaired the subcommittee on investigations. He later went on to be an attorney for several high-profile clients, including President Donald J. Trump. During his lifetime, Cohn was known for his brash attitude and penchant for confrontation. He was implicated in numerous controversies, but remained unapologetic until his death. He lived a life of accomplishment and notoriety until his death at the age of 59.
