Roy DeMeo, born on 1941-07-19, passed away on 1983-01-10 at the age of 42. He was an influential figure in organized crime in New York City from the end of the 1960s until his death. Prior to being involved in the criminal underworld, he worked in a car dealership in Brooklyn. During his long criminal career, he was accused of being part of an organized crime syndicate with ties to the Gambino and Genovese crime families. Roy DeMeo was most famously known as a pioneer of the contracted killing of victims for money, procuring weapons and silencing witnesses. He was also responsible for several other murders and executions during his criminal activity. His life and death made a significant mark in organized crime history and is still studied by many.
