Rudyard Kipling, a renowned British author and Nobel Prize in Literature laureate, passed away at the age of 70 on the 18th of January in 1936. He was a prolific writer, best known for several works such as The Jungle Book, The Just So Stories, and Kim. During his career, Kipling published a total of 50 books, although many had written him off as a contributing author by the late 1920's. Despite this, he remained one of the most celebrated authors of all time, and his works were highly regarded for their vivid and captivating depictions of the British Raj. In 1907, Kipling wasrecornded with the Nobel Prize in Literature "in consideration of the power of observation, originality of imagination, virility of ideas and remarkable talent for narration which characterize the creations of Rudyard Kipling". He was also awarded the Order of Merit in 1902, which is only given to 24 individuals in the UK. He was a member of the Kipling Society in the UK and of the Authors League in the US. Kipling and his legacy will be remembered for generations to come.
