It is with immeasurable sadness that the family of Ryan Wesley White announce the untimely passing of their beloved son and brother on April 8th, 1990. Ryan was born to hemophiliac parents in Kokomo, Indiana on December 6th, 1971, and was diagnosed with HIV/AIDS at the age of 13. He courageously shared his experience with the world while advocating for a better understanding and acceptance of HIV/AIDS and those affected by it. His brave fight inspired and motivated many, leading to groundbreaking research and legislation. His advocacy efforts and activism in the battle against HIV and AIDS earned him numerous awards and accolades, including a Presidential Medal of Freedom from President George H.W. Bush. He is survived by his parents, Jeanne and Hubert White, and his three siblings. The memory of Ryan’s courage and inspiring personality will remain in the hearts of his family, friends and people all over the world. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten. May he rest in peace.
