On April 24th, 2011, Sathya Sai Baba passed away peacefully at his residence in Puttaparthi, India, after an extended period of ill health. He was 84 years old. Born in 1926, Sathya Sai Baba was known to millions of people around the world as a spiritual leader, teacher and humanitarian. Baba touched the lives of innumerable people, teaching the principles of love, peace, and service. He devoted his life to the causes of charity, education, alleviation of poverty, and spiritual development. He was respected by many as a living embodiment of divine truth, peace, and love. He was the founder of Sathya Sai International Organization (Sathya Sai Baba's Mission, comprising a network of non-profit charities) and the Prasanthi Mandir (Temple of Peace in Puttaparthi, India). He is the author of several books and many discourses printed for public service in fourteen languages, and is the recipient of numerous awards and accolades around the world. He will be remembered fondly and with deep respect by people worldwide, and his generous spirit and profound message of love and peace will remain with us all in perpetuity.
