Shock G (born Gregory Edward Jacobs) passed away unexpectedly on April 22, 2021, at the age of 57. Shock G was a pioneering, Grammy-nominated rap artist, most well-known as the leader of the groundbreaking hip-hop group Digital Underground and as the alter ego of Humpty Hump. His debut album, Sex Packets (1990), featured the influential and iconic hit single, “The Humpty Dance”. Shock G collaborated with more than two dozen high-profile artists throughout his career, such as Tupac Shakur, KRS-One, George Clinton, and Dr. Dre. He also produced and co-wrote the classic “Dear Mama” by Tupac. In 2011, he was honored with an induction into the Hip-Hop Museum Hall of Fame for his contribution to the genre. Shock G is survived by his beloved family, friends and fans. His extraordinary career in music and his memory will be cherished and honored by all.
