Sid Haig, a trailblazing actor and cult cinema icon, passed away on September 21, 2019. He was 80 years old. Throughout his long career, starting in the late 1950s, Sid Haig was known for his portrayal of offbeat heroes and complex villains in films and television. He began making appearances in B movies in the '60s, including the Jack Hill-directed features Spider Baby and The Big Bird Cage. Perhaps the meatiest portions of Haig’s career were his iconic appearances in Rob Zombie’s horror films, beginning with 2003’s House of 1000 Corpses. He would go on to appear in almost every one of Zombie’s subsequent films, including Devil’s Rejects and 3 From Hell. Most recently, Sid Haig appeared as an elder version of his most popular character, Captain Spaulding, in the 2019 Netflix film 3 From Hell. In addition to his acting career, Haig was known as an avid collector of vintage western memorabilia. Sid Haig was a beloved husband to his third wife, Suzie, and a titled performer whom his many fans will greatly miss.
