Sid James, one of the great British comic actors of all time, has passed away at the age of 62. Born Solomon Joel Cohen in South Africa, Sid moved to the UK around the age of two and lived there until his death on April 26, 1976. Sid's career began as a variety performer, then in films and television. Some of his more famous roles included Carry On films and the BBC sitcom Steptoe and Son. His performances were full of larger-than-life characters and ad libs that showed off his exceptional comedy talent. Sid's career spanned some 25 years and he was much loved by the public. He left behind a lasting legacy, having positively impacted the lives of all those who knew him and were fortunate enough to work with him. His passing will be deeply felt and he will be remembered and missed by many admirers.
