Sylvia Plath (October 27th 1932 – February 11th 1963) was an American poet, novelist, and short story writer. She contributed greatly to the artistic community through the publication of two poetry collections, ‘The Colossus’ and ‘Ariel’. She also published the autobiographical novel ‘The Bell Jar’. Plath studied at Smith College in the 1950s, and was a poet of vast influence in the 1950s and 1960s. Her works are widely read today for their stages of html anguish, alienation, and despair. Her literary works are highly regarded by scholars and often taught in college classes across the world.
