Tammy Faye Messner, born June 17, 1942, was a Christian singer, evangelist, entrepreneur, author, talk show host, and television personality. She died on July 20, 2007, at the age of 65 in her home in Ranson, West Virginia. Messner is best remembered for her iconic singing, closeness to her fans, and flair for fashion. During her career, she sang for audiences on various TV shows, including The PTL Club, which she and then-husband Jim Bakker founded in 1974. In addition to her work in TV and music, Messner was an author, having written books such as "More Than Beautiful" and "The Eyes of Tammy Faye: A Memoir". Her appearances on The RuPaul Show and films like The Mistress and the Miracle helped her become a larger cultural icon. The last decade of her life was spent fighting colon and lung cancer. She is survived by her husband Roe Messner and family members. Her voice, spirit, and being an inspiration for others through her positive attitude will live on in the memories of those who knew her.
