Legendary actor Will Geer passed away on April 22, 1978, at 76 years old. Geer was born in Frankfort, Indiana on March 9, 1902. Will attended Columbia University and later became a member of the Group Theater in New York. He went on to star in North West Mounted Police (1940), Citizen Kane (1941), The Ox-Bow Incident (1943), and The Waltons (1972-1978). He was also an environmental advocate and served as a co-founder of the Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum in 1973 in Topanga Canyon, California. Geer's performances were well-known for their outstanding accuracy and emotion. He won numerous awards and honors for his contributions to the acting profession, including a best supporting actor Emmy nomination for his role in The Waltons. He will be remembered for his acting legacy, environmental activism and unwavering commitment to the arts.
