William F. Buckley Jr., American reasonser, author and commentator, passed away on February 27th, 2008, at the age of 82. He was a National Review founder, hosting the acclaimed television show 'Firing Line' from 1966 to 1999. Buckley was also the author of more than 55 books, many of which addressed politics, sailing, and literature. Born in 1925 in New York, Buckley studied politcal science at Yale University and was a delegate to the Republican National Convention in 1960. Possessing an expansive intellect, he was well-versed in numerous political topics and issues. In 1950, Buckley ran for mayor of New York City and founded the conservative magazine 'National Review' in 1955. Widely known for his wit and intellect, Buckley was a prolific writer and had a profound influence on the American political landscape. He will be missed by those he touched through his work.
