David Carradine (1936–2009) passed away on 3 June 2009 at age 72. The versatile American actor, martial artist, and director is best known for his leading role in the 1970s television series Kung Fu, the artist's first major role. Carradine appeared in over 100 films and television shows during his lifetime and has been remembered for his roles in iconic films such as Death Race 2000 (1975) and Kill Bill (2003, 2004). An accomplished performer, Carradine was unique in his ability to crossover from Wuxia genre martial arts to western styled cowboy roles. In addition to his work as an actor, Carradine was a talented director, having directed episodes of Kung Fu and the video documentary Sing Me a Song. He was an avid photographer and the author of several books as well as an autobiography. He was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2004. Carradine will be fondly remembered for his vibrant spirit, unique talent, and commitment to the entertainment industry. He is survived by his three children from three different marriages.
