John Moses Browning, born in Ogden, Utah in 1855, died at the age of 71 on November 26th, 1926. Browning was an American inventor and firearms designer who created the designs for many of the military and civilian firearms of his day. His accomplishments earned him the nickname 'The Father of Modern Firearms'. He is best known for his Colt 1911 pistol, a piece which is still popular with gun owners today. He designed several other renowned weapons, such as the Winchester Model 1886 lever-action rifle and the Browning Automatic Rifle. In addition to his firearm inventions, Browning also had patents in many other fields, such as bicycle and typewriter parts. Browning was an inventor and entrepreneur, launching several entrepreneurial ventures such as the highly successful Browning Arms Company. John Browning's legacy will never be forgotten and his creativity and skill will always be appreciated by family, friends, and admirers.
