Laura Ingalls Wilder, beloved American author, passed away on February 10, 1957 at the age of 90. Wilder was born in 1867 in Pepin, Wisconsin, and was the second of five children born to Charles and Caroline Ingalls. Wilder was most notably known for her “Little House” series of books, which contained charming tales of her family’s life on the American frontier, beginning with their pioneering experience in “Little House in the Big Woods.” The book series was extremely popular and enjoyed by adults and children alike. Wilder also wrote a biography entitled “Pioneer Girl,” which was the precursor to the “Little House” book series and was published posthumously in 2014. Wilder moved several times throughout her life, including living in Kansas, Minnesota, South Dakota, and Missouri. She is survived by her daughter Rose Wilder Lane and by generations of adoring fans and admirers of her work.
