It is with a heavy heart that we announce the death of Mohamed Al-Fayed, died on August 30, 2023 at the age of 94. Mohamed was born in Cairo, Egypt in 1929 and had a long-lasting and colourful career. He began as a school teacher in Egypt before migrating to England in his twenties. In the 1960s, Mohamed began managing luxury properties and later acquired ownership of iconic Harrods in London. He was chairman of Fulham Football Club for nearly two decades and was a passionate fan of the Club. While living in the UK, he established an international business portfolio, growing his wealth to an estimated 4.2 billion GBP over the years. Mohamed was heavily involved in various philanthropic endeavours. He raised funds for disadvantaged children and even extended his charity work to the Maldives, Somalia, and Ethiopia. He was predeceased by his son, Dodi Al-Fayed – killed in an accident with Princess Diana in 1997. Mohamed was a larger-than-life character and he will be missed by many.
