Ric Ocasek, legendary frontman of the band The Cars, died on September 15th, 2019 at age 70. Ocasek's impact on the music industry was seismic, with the success of The Cars' debut album in 1978 launching a career that spanned decades. Ocasek went on to win two Grammys for his solo albums, as well as write and produce tracks for other recording artists. In addition to being a successful musician, Ocasek also wrote and acted in television and film. He had an extensive knowledge of music theory and instrumentation, which is why he was held in high regard by peers in the musical sphere. A family spokesman commented on his death, "We are all shocked and saddened by the unexpected passing of our family member, Ric Ocasek. He was a true innovator and legend in music." The legacy of Ric Ocasek will live for years to come, as fans around the world revisit his incredible body of work that has inspired generations. He will be dearly missed.
