Jack Ruby, born Jacob Leon Rubenstein, died on January 3, 1967 at the age of 55. Most famously known for shooting and killing Lee Harvey Oswald - the accused assassin of President John F. Kennedy - Ruby often referred to himself as the 'fall guy' who had been taken advantage of because of his alleged involvement in organized crime. Born in Chicago, Illinois, Ruby first opened a nightclub in Dallas in 1947. Following his conviction for murdering Oswald, which was subsequently overturned, Ruby passed away due to a pulmonary embolism at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas. Ruby's death sentence and all subsequent appeals were posthumously overturned in 2017, fifty years after his passing. He will long be remembered for his involvement in one of the most mysterious events in history, as well as his unwavering dedication to ensuring justice was served.
