Lee Harvey Oswald, age 24, passed away on November 24, 1963. Most famous for his connections to the assassination of former United States president John F. Kennedy, Lee Harvey Oswald was born on October 18, 1939 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Lee enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps at age 17 and became a sharpshooter. He was then assigned to U-2 aerial photography intelligence missions in Japan. Lee was discharged from the service in 1959, before moving to the Soviet Union, where he attempted to obtain citizenship and was later denied. He returned with his family to the United States in 1962 and moved to Dallas, Texas. Lee Harvey Oswald was one of the most talked about figures in U.S. history, his name forever linked to the John F. Kennedy assassination and the historic events of November 22-24, 1963. He is survived by his wife Marina Oswald and his mother, Marguerite Claverie. He will be remembered for his role in U.S. history.
